Among the world’s largest semiconductor companies, serving over 100,000 customers across the globe. 2018 revenues of $9.66B, with year-on-year growth of 15.8%, ST is listed in NYSE, Euronext Paris and Borsa Italiana, Milan. ST signs the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) and is Member of the
Responsible Business Alliance (RBA).
ST has 11 main production sites, 7 Advanced R&D centers and 39 design and application centers, with more than 43600 employees over the world. ST is present in 35 countries with 79 sales offices. From energy management and savings to trust and data security, from
healthcare and wellness to smart consumer devices, in the home, car and office, at work and at play, ST is found everywhere microelectronics make a positive and innovative contribution to people’s life.
In ST-I, among the missions of the DMA division, there is the exploitation of its SiGe-BiCMOS technology platform, which is promoted towards the Customers either for R&D or product developments. The broadband data boom and associated evolving telecommunication standards are calling for high-performing devices with ever-increasing circuit complexity. New high data-rate services are driving the use of higher operating frequencies on optical and wireless systems, while requiring greater chip integration, reduced power consumption and optimized costs. New microwave applications such as Automotive Radars (24/77GHz), Satellite Communications, LAN RF transceivers (60GHz), Point-to-Point radio (V-Band/E-Band), Defense, Security or Instrumentation equipment are also extremely demanding of RF performance and operating conditions. To support this demand, ST is investing aggressively in very advanced SiGe-BiCMOS technology that provides the optimal answer in applications addressing the millimeter wave spectrum range beyond 100GHz.
Main tasks in the project
ST-I will provide ST’s SiGe:C BiCMOS process for IC chip set fabrication, design support for D-band related ICs and the Design Platform for CAD activities in WP2. ST-I will contribute to system, sub-system and components specification definitions in WP1. As industry partner and being member of ETSI mWT ISG will provide inputs for wireless small cell market analysis, standardization studies and requirements in WP7. ST-I will contribute to the project demo set up in WP5 and contribute to project management in WP8 by mainly leading the D-band radio design Work package.
